This two-part work takes as its subject the digital parking signs commonly seen in urban spaces, displaying the Japanese characters for “空” (empty/available) and “満” (full).
Rendered in red and green dots, these signs function as a visual language with clear meanings that direct our behavior within the city. By placing the two characters in parallel, the work expands the opposition of “empty/full” into a broader relationship between absence and presence.
Yet “empty” and “full” are not entirely separate states; each exists in relation to the other and is constantly subject to change. By juxtaposing these opposing conditions, the work questions the boundary between them—and the relationship between being and not being.
都市空間で日常的に目にする駐車場のデジタルサイネージ、「空（空車）」と「満（満車）」をモチーフとした2つの平面作品です。
赤や緑のドットで表示される「空」と「満」は、都市の中で明確な意味を持ち、私たちの行動を誘導する機能的な記号です。本作では、この二つの文字を並列化することで、「空／満」から「無／有」へと広がる二項対立を視覚化しています。
しかし、「空」と「満」は完全に切り離された状態ではなく、一方が他方との関係によって成立し、絶えず移り変わります。相反する二つの状態を並置することで、その境界と、存在すること／存在しないことの関係を問いかけます
