A gallery door is reconstructed so that, despite appearing open, it can neither be entered nor exited. The familiar function of the door—as a point of passage—is rendered useless.
Through this contradiction of being open yet closed, the work explores the uneasy relationship between freedom and restriction, access and exclusion. By transforming an ordinary architectural boundary into an obstruction, the installation invites viewers to physically encounter the invisible barriers that define inside and outside, possibility and confinement.
ギャラリーのドアを作り直し、開いているように見えながらも、「出ることも、入ることもできない」状態をつくり出した作品です。本来、通過するために存在するドアは、その機能を失っています。
「開かれているのに、閉ざされている」という矛盾した状態を通して、自由と制約、アクセスと排除のあいだにある不安定な関係性を問いかけます。日常的な建築の境界であるドアを「障壁」へと変えることで、鑑賞者は、内と外、可能性と閉塞を隔てる目に見えない境界を、身体的な体験として意識することになります。
